APC gives PDP 72 hours to retract claim

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has given the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Femi Fani-Kayode 72 hours to show oath-taking evidence by its vice-presidential candidate to relinquish his position.
Alternatively, the organisation said that PDP and Fani-Kayode, who is its Presidential Campaign Organisation’s Director of Media and Publicity, should retract the libelous claim within the deadline.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Garba Shehu, Director of Media and Publicity of APCPCO on Monday in Abuja.
It stated that PDP, through Fani-Kayode, publicly announced that APC vice-presidential candidate in the forthcoming election, who is a learned professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), swore an oath to vacate his seat after victory.
It stated that if PDP failed to show evidence of the oath-taking, it would be charged to a court of law.
According to the statement, PDP had claimed that the APC took an oath that Professor Yemi Osinbajo would resign for the National Leader of APC, Senator Bola Tinubu, to become vice-president if General Muhammadu Buhari wins the presidential election.
"This is an attack on the hard-won integrity and the reputations of these great Nigerians and APC stalwarts.
"We view this as both slanderous and libelous; therefore we will not leave the matter to chance. To this effect, we hereby give Femi Fani-Kayode and the PDP 72 hours to produce evidence.
"In the alternative, they should issue public apology to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Tinubu and our party, the APC or be prhepared to be charged to the court of law," the party said.
