Police taskforce busts vehicle theft syndicate

Lagos - A special police task-force have arrested four suspects and recovered more than 50 vehicles alleged to have been stolen from around the country.

Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer, said the arrest followed a major operation.
“In response to series of reports of stolen vehicles from across the country, the Inspector-General of Police Special Task-force on Heinous Crimes, has busted a notorious criminal gang that specializes in snatching of vehicles at different points across the country,” he said.
The recovered vehicles are currently on safe keeping at the IGP Special Task Force on Heinous Crime facilities in Abuja, Kaduna and Onitsha, with contact phone number: 08035557676.
While commending the officers the task-force for the high-level of professionalism displayed in the course of the operation, IGP Suleiman Abba, further assured members of the public that the Force was being re-positioned with modern crime fighting techniques to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens.

He said members of the public were thereby requested to check through the listed recovered vehicles for possible identification and provide proof of ownership to enable them reclaim same.
